What it means
Environmental Accreditation applies to products verified by independent third parties for their measurable environmental performance. These accreditations demonstrate that a product meets recognized sustainability standards, covering areas such as resource efficiency, waste reduction, safety, biodegradability, and regenerative or low-impact production methods.
How it works
Environmental accreditations are granted at the product level, not the company level. Each certification confirms that the product meets transparent, verifiable criteria for environmental benefit. Univar Solutions works closely with accredited suppliers to make these verified lower-impact products accessible to customers across industries.
Criteria and Standards
We recognize leading global standards that evaluate environmental impact and responsible production practices, including: EcoCert, COSMOS, USDA Organic, Safer Choice, Clean ingredients, Green Seal®, ISCC PLUS, Oeko-Tex®, EU Organic, and Bluesign®. Each certification is based on measurable data and third-party verification.
Supporting Documentation
To qualify as an environmentally accredited product, suppliers provide:
- A valid certificate including expiry (if required) and certifier details
- A registry link or public reference where applicable
- A supplier scope statement confirming the accreditation applies at product level
